The method.

Portrais observes. The identity mandate forces hairline, eye colour, build, and facial structure to replicate your references exactly — no idealised jawline, no straightened teeth, no smoothed skin. You will look like yourself, on a good day.

The trust mechanism

Money-back guarantee.

If the pack doesn’t look like you, we refund the credit. Plainly. The mechanism in three steps.

  1. First, regenerate.

Reply to any Portrais email with the photos you’re unhappy with and a sentence about what’s wrong. The founder reads every reply. We regenerate the failed photos with a targeted correction — usually within six hours.

  2. Then, refund.

If regeneration doesn’t satisfy, we refund the credit in full via Stripe. Processes in three to five business days back to the card you used. You keep the photos — they’re yours either way.

  3. What it covers.

Identity. Hairline shifted, hair colour wrong, apparent age moved, build changed, facial hair drifted, asymmetric features smoothed. The pack should be recognisably you. If it isn’t, the guarantee applies.

  4. What it doesn’t cover.

Taste. The light is too soft, the garment isn’t the one you’d have picked, the expression reads cooler than you wanted. Per-panel control inside each style group is where you adjust those. The guarantee isn’t a taste refund — it’s an identity refund.

FAQ

Common questions.

Will I look like myself?
Yes. The identity mandate forces hairline, eye colour, build, facial structure, and small features to replicate your references exactly — no idealised jawline, no straightened teeth, no smoothed skin. You will look like yourself, on a good day.
What photos do I upload?
Four to eight phone photos. Mix the angles — one straight-on, one three-quarter — and mix the lighting — one indoor, one with natural daylight. Eyes open, nothing on the hair. Two minutes from your camera roll is plenty.
How long does it take?
Under fifteen minutes from upload to delivery. Generation runs in the background — close the tab, come back, your pack is waiting.
What's in each pack?
Print-ready 4K single-headshot frames — Standard 15 photos, Pro 30, Executive 50. Every photo is identity-locked from your references. Yours to keep, no expiry.
Are my photos private?
Your reference photos and generated portraits are stored in your private account. They are not shared, and we do not train models on user uploads.
Can I get a refund?
If a generation fails for technical reasons, the credit is refunded automatically — no support ticket required. Packs never expire, so unused credits stay yours.
How does the money-back guarantee work?
If a pack doesn’t look like you, reply to any Portrais email. We work the problem in two passes — first by regenerating the failed photos with a targeted correction, then if that doesn’t satisfy, by refunding the credit in full via Stripe. About 80% of guarantee invocations resolve at the regeneration step within six hours. The full mechanics are at #guarantee.
What happens to my reference photos and outputs?
Reference photos are stored encrypted in Google Cloud Storage for as long as your account exists, so we can regenerate if you invoke the guarantee. Outputs sit in the same storage, accessible only to you. Email hello@portrais.com to delete everything — we remove within 24 hours. We don’t share, sell, or train any model on your photos.
Can I re-generate a photo I don’t love within a pack?
Yes. Every pack has per-photo regenerate buttons that re-run with a slight variation in composition or expression — same identity-mandate context. Re-rolling is for taste; the guarantee is for identity. Use re-roll if the light or expression isn’t quite right; use the guarantee if the photo doesn’t look like you.
